I went to Pune Passport office for renewal and address change and it took me half day leave (including time to travel from Chinchwad to Pune and back), the process was pretty easy though some improvements needed .. never mind ..

But when it came to Police verification I was bit sceptical due to my prior experiences with Police department. First experience was 20 years back when policeman came to my house for verification and took bribe of 200 Rs to provide police clearance. Next experience was with Nigdi Police station where the police took bribe of 500 Rs into police station itself as Chai pani fees !!! As I learnt from some of my colleagues good experience in Chaturshringi police station with no bribe and within hour I also expected the same experience with Chinchwad police station.
So here
Got the following SMS at 6 pm evening on 11 April, look at the RED text, I am getting message evening to submit everything (including bank statement) evening 6 pm and they are threatening to return file in case I do not visit the second day !! dam it !!! can’t help POLICE has got the POWERS in INDIA. See the time slot of one hour (actually when I visited they wasted complete day in clearance)
Please come with original and xerox copies of documents on 12/4/2016 at 10.30 am to 11.30 am at chinchwad police station-
1. Birth Certificate
2. Electricity bill
3. Index _2
4. Aadhar card
5. Election voter ID card
6. Bank statement
7. 2 photographs
8.company I’d card
9. (In case of rental) lease agreement is mandatory

So immediately (due to the RED warning of returning file !!) I left all office work and went to my bank, got 6 months bank statement, collected all Xerox papers and went to Chinchwad Police station at sharp 10.30 am on 12 April …
To my surprise there were 20 people in line .. 10 of them sitting and remaining all standing everywhere in police station !
So I went ahead to the cabin where Passport clearance was written. There were two policeman one of which asked my name and checked paper received from Pune passport office, which he handed over to other person and asked me to get a blank form from Xerox shop outside police station !!! You see I am tax payer giving lacs of rupees per month, it is government duty and see what they do.
I went to Xerox shop behind police station where I got the form for 3 Rupees !!! Anyway I did not had any choice so I got it and filled it.
For your convenience I have uploaded the form here so that you can print and keep it ready before you goto the police station (not sure how many days this format is valid, but no harm trying your luck, you are in India so chances that this will remain valid is for next 20 years 😛 )

After I filled in the form I awaited for my turn, the police was asking names in very low voice and one of the volunteer who got bored of waiting was repeating the name loudly for helping . Finally after waiting for an hour it was my turn.
I went inside and gave him the paper bunch, now precisely he asked my Xerox copies of my old passport, please note that his SMS was not having mention of this document so most of the people did not have it, so when their tern came, he asked for this Xerox and send them back to the shop to get Xerox !! pretty annoying trick !!! I was having bad experience so I had all the extra Xerox of all documents with me, so I immediately gave him additional Xerox !
So lessons learnt here is please go with all extra documents original and Xerox even they are not asked by police in their SMS .. they will surely ask for it and make you go home or to the Xerox shop !!
As expected he did not check the bunch of document at all, he asked some intelligent questions like “where do you stay”, “where did you do schooling” .. did not check any of the documents at all and told me to wait.
So by that time it was about 12 noon and about 30 people were waiting for the next process ! After asking they said that I have to wait till all the forms are not complete !! so the person who came at 10 am was also waiting for nothing.
So finally at 1.30 PM Mr. V. K kubade (वरिष्ठ पोलीस निरीक्षक) got time from his busy schedule to give us their valuable signatures !! (I was observing and most of the time he was sitting in his cabin, he could have cleared 10 forms each in between the idle time, but then how will the general public know the POWERS of MAHARASHTRA POLICE ?)
So at 1.30 PM we all went inside his posh cabin (with interior lighting etc. which even private company higher managers do not have) and one by one he signed all forms.
Now again all had to wait for the next instruction, so the policeman gave 2~3 Xerox of “Javab form” and told us to get it Xeroxed two per person and one set of xerox of the papers signed by Mr. V. K kubade (वरिष्ठ पोलीस निरीक्षक) so that is also Public job ? really ??
When I asked him what to do next, he told first get it Xeroxed and then only he will give further directions !! See how POWERFUL they are ? if he was in my company I could have fired him for such inefficient answers .. but he is POLICE !
So we all went outside and got things Xeroxed. After our return he told to get the two “Javab forms” signed from neighbours with their photo ID and address proof and submit it before 8 pm the same day, else you know the WARNING If failed to come on the given date, file will be returned back to the passport office
So by this time it was 2 pm so no point in going back to company (in fact most of the people lost their complete day leave and the Chinchwad police was completely successful in doing this national wastage of man-hours pleasantly ! )
Evening by 7 pm I complete the forms, took signatures and went back to Chinchwad Poilce station, handed over the forms and he told that the police clearance will be sent to Passport office.
So the experience was that even they did not ask for bribe, they successfully wasted the complete day !
anyway I have typed in the form for you and given in PDF format, at least it will save one trip back from home to police station and also avoid rush to find neighbours and their papers on the same day.
I am also adding the form given by them just to show the quality of form they give !!!

This is specific to Wakad police station. When you go there they will ask you to get the from from the Xerox shop. The Xerox shop would charge you Rs. 12 and give you 6 blank pages along with the forms (1 two sided and other one single side). The form which says FORM A is what you need to fill and the other form and 6 blank pages are for the police. So take a print and also 6 blank pages which is really cheap for our Police department.

Thanks for sharing your experience. In my daughter’s case, the Police Official concerned shouted at her and scolded her in the presence of other members of the public to such an extent that on coming out of the Police station, she called me up weeping on phone.
Thanks for sharing. My experience with chinchwad police is no great. In the first place Why do we need this Police Clarence? What value it is bringing to the process? Pimpri-chinchwad police doesn’t know the word respect and they can complete the verification from their seat and does not have to make a field visit to issue the clearance certificate. Money makes many things. Who can save this country from these looters?

They do not visit your home, they send SMS and call Urgently ! So since you need it you have to goto Police Station !! It is not pre-verification but final verification in my case.

I don’t understand when will this government employees change, i am sure they will someday though. I had to visit the police station twice due to their ‘Boss’ being not available at the given time. One thing i must highlight the subordinate person incharge for passport verification was quite courtious & polite. They have improved the system a lot now. I attended for passport appointment on Oct 17 at Pune Kondwa PSK at 11am. was out from PSK at 3pm. Received text in the evening that police verification initiated. meaning the moment Section C officer in passport Seva Kendra clears ur application it goes to police verification system instantly. I went to Nigadi police station next morning on Oct 18. Requested to police officer that I have genuine urgency. as usual they shooed me saying come only after receiving message from them. But I waited till 7pm…..then after a lot of request they finally took my acknowledgement receipt and printed a form for me to fill and come next day with all required documents. (Citizenship proof – Birth certificate, Leaving certificate etc… and address proof like Adhar card, light bill etc plus two people’s reference from your society (their id proof and address proof with their signature on the form that police gave me to fill)
Next morning I went with all documents and within 10 minutes it was completed. Hoping to receive my passport in a wee time. Mine was renewal with pre police verification.
Just my two cents…do not apply in tatkal…instead apply in normal and then visit police station the same evening (provided you received confirmation that police verification initiated) and get things done. Going in the evening at around 6pm should work because at that time they are little free and will listen to your plea.
“Police verification initiated” mean your case has reached to police department’s system for verification.

Well In my case its the same until passport verification.
Coming to passport verification i have received my passport already like 2 days ago and then now a police officer called me and saying that you missed the appointment yesterday, which i am not aware off. No sms either.
He was telling me that he rescheduled it on Tuesday 4 pm ( which i don’t have confirmation sms yet), For which i can’t attend as i am doing late shift and my shift starts at 2:00 PM. I was asking him to reschedule to early hours on Tuesday.
For which he replied saying that ” He will return my files back to passport office”. (No words)
Not sure if people do passport verification after getting passports in their hands. This is strange too.
Well in my case its a reissue..

Today only I visited PSK as a normal mode and just recieved SMS stating police verification has been initiated. Mine is renewal + Address change + Marital Status change. I have downloaded the forms you’d uploaded on this blog and got it printed. All seems to be fine just one question, do I need to get the signatures of the same neighbours whose name I had mentioned in the application form or I can get the signature of any one else? Unfortunately, one of the neighbour has gone out of the station and is not expected for the next 15 days. Please suggest.

Just one query – Did you Pre-police verification or Post-police verification?
In passport website it is written, in most cases Passport will be issued first, if it is for renewal.

I went to Wakad Police station today and found that they had different set of forms, which as usual I had to procure it from the Xerox shop opposite to the police station. I also saw that the shopkeeper had attached some 6 blank pages to the set which he sold for Rs 12. Any was I wanted to upload the forms here for the benefit of future passport applicants. But not sure how to upload the same. If you can share your email id I will send the same to you and then you can share it on the website. One peculiar thing I noticed on the form was a hand made small star sign on the top left of the pages not sure what does it indicates.
Any ways, since I was trying my luck prior to my actual appointment for the verification they didnt verified my documents and asked me to come on 24th Nov, 2016. Once I am through with the verification, I would share my experience here.

Today I appeared for my police verification appointment. I had a very good experience at Wakad Police Station. First of all if people arent aware then this police station has now shifted from Hinjawadi to Dattamandir Road.
Whole thing completed within 1.5 hrs. When I reached there the policeman, probably a constable, enquired if I had recieved any sms, probably an SMS is triggered when the data regarding my application is sent to this police station. Then he asked me to write my name on a sheet so that they could call me whenever my number comes up. Luckily I had the forms available with me. For the benefit of the public they have pasted a filled up form on a notice board outside the room so that people could fill up their forms as per the format.
When my number came he asked those verification forms (I have mailed it to Mahesh) unfortunately I forgot to take the snapshots of the filled up form. Then the constable compared all the data I have filled up with the data they had recieved from PSK. He did several corrections while doing this. He asked all the originals, when I produced it he asked me for the photocopies of the same. Since I had all of them ready I immediately gave it to him.
He didnt ask me to produce the Jawab form which Mahesh had put-up in his blog probably they are no longer asking for this. Even though it was mentioned in the SMS he didnt ask me for my bank statement. He did ask me for the index II, which I gave him promptly. For the electricity I had got the print of whole 1 year electricity bill. He said they dont need so many they just wanted one current bill and one old bill. He just picked up the bills he wanted and told me that it is over and I can leave now.
Now I am waiting for the sms that the verification is complete.
This blog really helped me in preparing for the verification process and believe me the process has become very smoother. I didnt had to pay any money to get the verification done.

I am done with my passport appointment yesterday and waiting for my police verification at Pimpri.I have Aadhar Card and bank passbook as address proof(not bank statements).I also have Index 2 and light bill but both of these are on my brother’s name and not mine.Will they accept this ??

One problem, In my new passport application form, I have given reference of my neighbor and 2nd of my cousin brother located within 2km. Does they need neighbors reference only? Will give trouble while verification?
Or they give any form where you again need give your reference details? Where I can give both neighbor reference.

As per my understanding neighbor has to be in vicinity and not 2 km distance, So suggest to get from immediate neighbors only who stay in your building or very near to your house.

Its been 2 days since I have been to Wakad Police Station, still the status of application same “pending for physical police verification at Wakad Police station”. Any idea how much time do they take to send the report back to PSK?
Well I also came across a bad experience at dehuroad police station. I had to call them multiple times just to check whether my passport application has reached there or not. On top of that they were saying they are working overtime for bandobast at dehu and can’t say anything at least for a week. Complete nonsense…..if responsible person is not available, they should handover it to someone else… After repeated calls somehow they agreed to meet and the actual process took just 10 minutes for which they wasted 5 days
After this hard work, they didn’t forget to ask for a bribe. Overall most of these guys were non coperative
Got my police verification done from Wakad Police Station day before. A person from the police station came to my place (called 3 hours in advance, and advised to keep some documents ready). Spent around 15 min at home checking various documents and he seemed happy after that. Extremely smooth process, no bribe asked (but I handed 200 INR just in case).
Now waiting for the status on the passport portal to change to reflect completion of police verification.
Is police verification still being done for renewals? I thought that requirement was done away with.

Index 2 is your house document which proves ownership records.
As far as possible carry all original documents since rules vary from one police station to the other! Carrying neighbours I’d proof again depending upon police station policy!!! Prefer carrying all things so as to avoid disappointment
Hello. I applied on 16/03/17, and police verification was smooth at Chinchwad Police station. However, that status in the website is still showing that the Report has been sent to Commissioner for review (since last one week). Any idea, how long does it take to reach the Passport Office from the commissioner office? What do I do if the status remains as is for the coming week also?

But what I have as address proof is -Photocopy of bank passbook,Postpaid mobile bill and letter from the company. Will this be ok for police verification? I had my police verification done at Wakad police station yesterday 25-Oct-17. My experience was very good. Surprisingly it was even better than the passport office.
I got a call in the afternoon to come to the station at 5:30 PM with the originals and a set of photo copies. The person on the phone spoke politely and answered all my queries on the documents required.
I reached the station at 5:15 PM and found the passport verification cabin locked. I had a sinking feeling that I would end up waiting late into the evening to complete the verification, or worse, come back the next day. However to my surprise a guy came promptly at 5:30 PM and opened the cabin. I was the first one in line so he started with my verification.
He asked me to get Form A and police verification form from the photocopy shop across the road, but I told him that I had taken a printout of the two forms loaded on this site. He smiled and asked me to complete Form A. He looked at my printout of the verification form and told me it was too small . The form only covere2/3 of the page as I had not done a stretch-to-fit- page while printing the form. He had a spare form in his desk and he used that instead. He reviewed my completed Form A and noticed that my form was missing some info and also required some corrections. He himself filled in the missing info and made the corrections based on my answers to his queries.
Docs required:
1. 1 photo
2. 2 address proofs (I shared rent agreement and gas connection book)
3. Aadhaar / pan card
4. Old passport
5. New passport
6. Electricity bill
He reviewed all docs very carefully, in fact more carefully than the passport office had and pointed out something in my address proof that even the passport office had missed. He took my photo using his tablet. My verification took 25 minutes. During the entire time the cop was very polite and professional. He was that way to everyone who called on his cell or walked in with queries. He did not ask for any bribe nor did I offer any. I told him at the end of the verification that I appreciated his professionalism.
When I walked out I was a bit sad that professionalism in the police department is so rare that when one comes across a good cop, one is left astonished. What should be the norm, is the exception.
As per latest information (25th Oct 2021) document required for Hinjewadi PO are
1. Pan card
2. Aaadhar card
3. Electricity bill
4. Index 2 (in case of owner’s prop)
5. Rent agreement old and new
6. marriage certificate
7 school leaving certificate .
as per Passport seva website (https://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/faqPoliceVerification Q 22) 1 year address will not be verified but police officer asked about duration of stay but did not see proof for past 1 year .
