Switzerland 11 – Mount Rigi, Lucerne

By Mahesh 1 Comment | Last Updated July 26, 2015

My initial plan was to visit mount Titlis and Mount Pilatus during my stay at Lucerne, however when i heard from one of my friend that mount Rigi also could be a good options since I am also planning to visit Jungfreu … I can skip mount Pilatus and on that day I can get on to Mount Rigi, the advantage is that I get to visit a mountain with flowers and no snow on it ! as well as since I was having Swiss travel pass, this tour will be free of cost ๐Ÿ™‚ giving me ride on boat, cogwheel railway and return via a cable car .. all in one experience …

First I would start with the beautiful flowers that one can see on this mountain .. honestly u hv to do some trekking on the way side of the railway track … but i was not in mood to do so .. hence was happy to see flowers on the mountain top …

from the top .. 1797 m Rigi Kulm .. u can get magnificent view of lake lucerne … and the wild flowers …

relax a bit on the top of mount rigi ๐Ÿ™‚

Now the options to travel to Mount Rigi Kulm.
Although there are multiple options for this I shall explain the one which I selected with boat ride, cogwheel railway and cable car ๐Ÿ™‚
So Start from Lucerne boat station and catch boat for mount Rigi, which travels towards Vitznau.

Lady officer arresting the boat movement by throwing rope to the standing bars … reached Vitznau …

Get down at  Vitznau, where u can catch a cogwheel railway to mount Rigi
Kulm, since they are connected in timing as soon as u get down
immediately move alongwith crowd. here u see that u get place on the left hand side window to get good views of lake and valley.

the red train was the one we traveled from Vitznau to Rigi Kulm through cogwheel railway …
enjoy the food at the top of mount rigi .. with flowers ๐Ÿ™‚
at the food counter .. cook was happy to pose for me ๐Ÿ™‚ finally i am a blogger .. i make all happy by having them posed for beautiful photographs …

Now once u r done with ur lunch and ready to go down … catch the same RED cogwheel train and get down at Rigi Kaltbad, where u can move towards the cable car ..down to Weggis …

The cable car view which I captured from the boat ride … this gives u an idea of the ride ..

now when u get down to Weggis .. u hv to move down to the boat station to catch boat towards Lucerne ..

on the way down when u cross a bridge under the main road .. immediately after that u can see nice homes .. with beautiful flowers outside …we almost spent an hour looking around … here are few snaps …

beautiful homes on the way to boat station … traditional homes with flowers all around .. simply amazing … i would love to have such home in my dreams ๐Ÿ™‚ god help me …to get one …

and another one ,.,, mann ,, how can one build such beautiful house .. in such a location … i wish i could have one … at least as my holiday home .. may be next time i shall try for some B&B stay where i could stay at actual swiss house ๐Ÿ™‚

So overall this trip was nice one for me …. there are many options to reach mount Rigi .. u can find one when u see the map and try another one if u hv time ….

hope this helps !

cheers !!
