Velas is small village and if you are heading down at the time of turtle festival then you need to book your stay well in advance, alternatively you may like to stay at nearby beaches and head down to velas only at the time of turtle checking time i.e. morning 7 am and evening 6 pm.Where to stay at Velas :

What to do at Velas :
https://trekbook.in/2015/02/tortoise-festival-velas-180-kms-from.htmlI stayed at Milind Nijasure’s home stay where they charged ~525 Rs per person for one room including night food and morning bk fast and tea. Room was pretty clean and food was simple homely.

By the way point to be noted here is that 10% of the amount that you pay for staying at home is being utilized for the turtle conservation fund.

If you stay at Laxmikrupa home stay you will be able to see all local spice plants, Mr. Amol Soman is interesting personality (MBA by qualification returned to Velas from Mumbai, you can contact him on 02350-220279 or 9403574183) His house is exactly in front of Nana Phadanvis statue.

I am adding photographs of spice plants that are available with Amol in his backyard (~2 acres)

Amol also has all the spices for sale as household business .. i m giving small snapshot of his offering below …
So enjoy your stay at velas and the traditional Konkani food ..
cheers !!
