Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum of Natural History, Sawai Madhopur

By Mahesh Leave a Comment | Last Updated July 26, 2015

Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum of Natural History, Sawai Madhopur has been recently inaugurated by the State Finance Minister Mr. Namo Narain Meena on 1st Mar 2014.

If you have a couple hours time in between your safari rides at Ranthambore, I strongly recommend to spare some time to visit this Nature museum.

You may read details on Wikipedia, here I would jot down my experience with the museum.

This photograph is captured when our canter was approaching the museum, the building loooks attractive and spacious, colour combination of stones is also nice.

you can see that we are so used to travel in canter with sun shining to its full on power ! never mind … no pain no gain 🙂

Vertical panels full of information on nature with beautiful pictures and lot of details about nature secrets. really worth reading each panel, (will take an hour or so to read all panels)

Movie on tiger is shown every day at 3 pm, we reached there at around 12 noon, however Education officer Mr. Singh helped us out by immediately organizing the show 🙂 I really appreciate the pro-activeness from him (since it is government organization  we were discussing among ourselves about timing and he immediately understood our issue and arranged the show 🙂

the film was really good one and educational about tigers in India.

Look around for nice nature sculptures ..

and more information about Rajesthan …

and some Tiger head trophy’s from old king days .. stuffed animals ….giving u real feelings …

again one more Tiger head trophy…..

Proceed to the paintings section .. I liked this portion of museum the most .. beautiful paintings near to the reality … this is called as Ranthombore art, founder of which is Shri M.D. Parashar.

This portion is a must see …

look at that .. isn’t it a real tiger ?

awesome live art piece ..hats off to the artist …

what a closeup .. loved the detailing done in the eyes …. look at it …

So this place gets 5* rating from me and a must visit when you are at Sawai Madhopur for tiger safari.
