The Pavanathadi Jatra 2025 is all set to be held from February 21 to 24 at the PWD Ground in Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Sangvi, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) announced through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Pavanathadi Jatra 2025: A Celebration of Women’s Entrepreneurship and Maharashtrian Culture in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Get ready for a vibrant showcase of Maharashtrian culture and women’s empowerment! The much-awaited Pavanathadi Jatra is returning to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Sangvi from February 21st to 24th, 2025. This annual festival, organized by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), promises a delightful experience for all.
Empowering Women, Celebrating Tradition:
The Pavanathadi Jatra is more than just a fair; it’s a platform for 750 women’s self-help groups (SHGs) to showcase their talent and products. This initiative by the PCMC’s Social Development Department aims to empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with a marketplace to market their goods, develop crucial business skills, and generate self-employment opportunities. It’s a testament to the strength and creativity of women in the community.

Behind the Scenes:
The PCMC has allocated ₹1.30 crore for the smooth execution of the jatra. This includes setting up stalls and pavilions, ensuring sanitation facilities, providing drinking water and electricity, and managing other essential services. A transparent lucky draw system was used to allocate stalls to the participating SHGs.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is organizing the Pavanathadi Jatra at the P.W.D. Ground in Sangvi from January 11 to 15, 2024. The administrative groundwork for this 5-day festival has already commenced. Each year, products crafted by women’s savings groups become available at Bajirao Road as part of the Pavanathadi Jatra organized by the municipal corporation. It receives overwhelming participation and sales from the entire city. The festival will feature 400 stalls from women’s savings groups, showcasing a diverse array of products, including literature, clothing, and food items. Applications for stalls have been invited from women’s savings groups, with the deadline set until January 2, 2024. The application process includes necessary document submissions. The applications will be accepted at the Social Development Department located in the municipal building in Pimpri. The distribution of stalls will be done after reviewing the applications, and these stalls will be offered free of cost. No charges will be levied for providing these stalls. The festival will also include stalls from the Social Development Department, Navi Disha, Divyang Class, Smart City, and various other departments. Additionally, cultural events will be held for five days, along with guidance sessions for experts and respected individuals in various fields. There will also be an entertainment zone for children.
For the Pavanathadi Jatra, a grand stage is being set up with an estimated cost of 62 lakhs. This includes expenses for electricity and lighting, amounting to 45 lakhs. The total expected cost for the entire event is 1 crore 30 lakhs. This budget has been approved by the permanent committee.
As a special gesture, free stalls will be provided to selected women’s savings groups. The Pavanathadi Jatra at the P.W.D. Ground in Sangvi promises to be a remarkable event, with 400 women’s savings groups receiving complimentary stalls, making their products available to the public. The applications for these complimentary stalls are being accepted until January 2, 2024. The distribution of these stalls will be carried out after reviewing the applications, ensuring that these stalls are provided free of cost. This initiative has been approved by the Social Development Department, and Ajay Charthakar, the department’s official, has confirmed this approach.

पिंपरी-चिंचवड महापालिकेच्या प्रयत्नांमुळे सांगवीतील पी.डब्लू.डी. मैदानात 11 ते 15 जानेवारी 2024 सांगवी पवनाथडी जत्रा होईल. या 5 दिवसांच्या उत्सवातील तैयारी आधीच सुरू आहे. महिला बचत गटांनी तयार केलेल्या उत्पादकांना बाजारपेठात उपलब्ध करून, प्रतिवर्षी संपूर्ण शहरात या जत्रेला भरवलेले आहे. संपूर्ण शहरातून उदंड प्रतिसाद मिळतो आणि विक्रीही मोठ्या प्रमाणात होते. जत्रेत महिला बचत गटांचे 400 स्टॉल असणार आहे, ज्यात साहित्य, कपडे, खाद्यपदार्थ सहित विविध वस्तू विकता येईल. स्टॉलसाठी बचत गटांकडून 2 जानेवारी 2024 पर्यंत अर्ज मागविण्यात येतील. अर्ज सोडत काढून स्टॉलचे वितरण केले जाईल, ज्याने विनामूल्य स्टॉल मिळवू शकतील. जत्रेत 1 कोटी 30 लाखांचा खर्च अपेक्षित आहे. हे सर्वाधिकार स्थायी समितीने मान्यता दिलेले आहे.

One of the best part of life is to tinker with your taste buds 🙂 and I get this chance here two times in a year, one when I go to the Bhimthadi jatra at Pune and second when I go for the weekend food fest – Pavanathadi Jatra organized by PCMC.
You get vegetarian and non-vegetarian homely food directly from the kitchen of women who do this day in day out to run their houses. Another part of interest to me is exhibition stalls by the Self Help Groups (SHGS) where different hand made clothing, papad, pickles, masalas, arts are kept on sale.
PCMC management looks more proficient than it was last year, so i was bit surprised and happy too.
Location of Pavanathadi jatra is PWD ground Sangvi.
And the Pomfret Fish ready to fry .. It was so mouth watering and yummy …
Right photo shows typical dish from Konkan called as Ukadiche Modak … it is steamed dish with stuffing of coconut and sugar plus other ingredients … the stall was so crowdy that i was not able to get taste of it 🙁
One more stall with typical dish called as Purnache Mande, you can see lady bouncing Mande in hands, then she shall put on inverted utensil for roasting .. one manda will be suffice for two of u for sure …
The group was happy to be photographed for the blog .. they do ask who are the readers for this .. I could explain them a bit about blog but !!! .. leave it … they were happy …
So final verdict is that if you are food lover … Pavanathadi is must to go … Cheers !!

Arrangement of Pawana Thadi is very nice always but Its vary bad experience that, on current year i.e. March, 2020 arrangement of stall’s are hopless and useless……. I think the arranger has lapse the main purpose of Pawanathadi i.e. to concentrate on business of all ‘Bachat Gat’ , to give equal importance to all types of stall, this year arranger gives importance only to Non-Veg stall which results vary high bad impact on other stall holder womes…..
As per my opinion current year Pawana Thadi is gone failure………………….
Hope PCMC will solve all these above said and not said issues… by their won effort next year and not to hand over management / arrangement to any personal event arrange ……. as their mindset are different and mindset require for Pawanthadi are different……………
please try to solve all these issue next year and try to arrange all stall stystem as per previous years…i.e.2019….. and back years…..
