Trial Launch of Token Darshan System on 15 June 2025

Online booking available from June 14 via the temple committee’s official website

An initiative by the temple committee to ensure smooth and timely darshan for devotees

In the meeting held on June 7, the Temple Committee decided to conduct the first trial of the Token Darshan System on June 15. As per this decision, around 1,200 tokens will be available for this trial, and booking for the same can be done online from June 14 through the temple committee’s official website, [www.vitthalrukminimandir.org](http://www.vitthalrukminimandir.org), informed Gahininath Maharaj Ousekar, Vice Chairman of the Temple Committee.

To provide a smoother and quicker darshan experience for devotees visiting Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, a token-based system has been developed by Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore, on a pro bono basis. Given the increasing number of devotees each year, effective management of queues and facilities has become essential. Through this system, devotees can book their darshan time in advance, eliminating the need to stand in long queues. At the appointed time, they can directly enter the temple through the Darshan Hall, which will greatly help in crowd management, especially during peak periods, and save devotees’ time and effort.

Booking for tokens will open on June 14 at 10:00 AM on the official website. After booking, devotees must take a printout of their token and arrive at the Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Darshan Mandap (North Side Rear Entry, Pandharpur) at the designated time. After token verification, they will be allowed into the Darshan Hall and subsequently into the main darshan queue as per the time slot, explained Executive Officer Rajendra Shelke.

Preparations for this first trial are in the final stages. The second and third floors of the Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Darshan Mandap have been developed into waiting halls equipped with seating arrangements, restrooms, drinking water, tea services, a public announcement system, security personnel, directional and emergency signboards, CCTV surveillance, and other necessary facilities.

The inauguration of the trial phase will be held on June 15 at 10:00 AM, led by Vice Chairman Gahininath Maharaj Ousekar, in the presence of all committee members, at Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Darshan Mandap, informed Manager Manoj Shrotri

Bangle marking process on roadsides .. enjoy with kids watching it .. get one made to the size …

Look at the snap I took while roaming around streets in Pandharpur. You can easily see roadside women selling beautiful bangles made from lac.(lac is Resinlike substance secreted by certain lac insects; used in e.g. varnishes and sealing wax)

You can see the women heating the bangle which then she checks for the size fitting, re-heats to reduce / adjust size. and then it is sealed using heat from coal. They are locally made and cheap options available. I remember spent hours watching this making of bangles during my childhood. Its really a skill to make uniform size (diameter) and consistent shapes by hand rolling and that too when is is HOT. But somehow this tradition is still seen on Pandharpur roads 🙂 even in the age of high end very good finish and equal cost glass bangles from factory.

I hope this tradition lasts forever …. just to keep my childhood memory untouched!

    Dear Sir/Madam,
It is very nice to go through the tips given to devotees who are really interested to visit these places and help easily without any inconvenience. We also had been couple of times on our own arrangements, but however, it is worth mention to add KOLHAPUR ” MAHALAXMI’ temple also though little far in distance which is worth covering when we visit this place. Pandarpur, Akalkot, Tuljapur and also kolhapur. Thought of sharing and hence this pl. Also nearby important places are there in the same belt of Pandarpur to Pune.
